Our second week of Summer School was filled with even more exciting adventures, creative activities, and summer fun! Each day began with time together in the classroom before heading outside to enjoy the warm weather. From exploring nature to making colourful crafts, the students created many wonderful memories with both old and new friends.
サマースクール第2週も、楽しい活動が盛りだくさんの一週間となりました！毎日、お友達と一緒にさまざまな活動に取り組み、夏ならではの体験をたくさん楽しみました。自然に触れたり、作品を作ったりしながら、新しい思い出をたくさん作ることができました。
Day 1 – Blueberry Picking
We started the week with a wonderful trip to a blueberry farm. The students carefully picked fresh blueberries and were excited to taste them straight from the bushes. Everyone loved seeing how blueberries grow, and it was a special experience to enjoy such fresh fruit. After our visit, we cooled down with a delicious ice cream, making the hot summer day even sweeter!
週の始まりは、ブルーベリー狩りに出かけました。子どもたちはたくさんのブルーベリーを丁寧に摘み取り、その場で新鮮な実を味わいました。ブルーベリーがどのように育つのかを知り、とても貴重な体験となりました。最後には冷たいアイスクリームも食べ、暑い夏の日を楽しく過ごしました。
Day 2 – Tie-Dye Creations
The students became artists as they created colourful tie-dye designs. Everyone enjoyed choosing colours and waiting excitedly to see the surprise patterns that appeared when the fabric was opened. Every design was unique, making each creation a one-of-a-kind summer keepsake.
2日目は、カラフルなタイダイ染めに挑戦しました。好きな色を選び、「どんな模様になるかな？」とワクワクしながら取り組みました。布を広げた瞬間、それぞれ違った素敵な模様が現れ、世界に一つだけの作品が完成しました。
Day 3 – Dog Marionettes
Using reused materials, the students carefully created their own dog marionette puppets. This was one of the most challenging crafts of the week, but everyone showed great perseverance and never gave up. The finished puppets were full of personality, and the students were proud to see their hard work pay off.
3日目は、リサイクル素材を使って犬のマリオネットを作りました。少し難しい制作でしたが、子どもたちは最後まであきらめず、一生懸命取り組みました。それぞれ個性豊かなかわいいマリオネットが完成し、とても誇らしそうな笑顔が見られました。
Day 4 – Summer Festival Fun
Another hot summer day meant more water play! After cooling off outside, the students enjoyed delicious shaved ice and had fun catching colourful yo-yo balloons, just like at a Japanese summer festival. It was a day full of smiles, laughter, and classic summer traditions.
暑い夏の日だったので、この日も水遊びをたっぷり楽しみました。その後は、冷たいかき氷を食べたり、ヨーヨーつりに挑戦したりして、まるで夏祭りのような一日となりました。笑顔があふれる、夏らしい思い出がまた一つ増えました。
Day 5 – Watermelon Smash and Fireworks art
We ended Summer School with one of Japan’s favourite summer traditions—watermelon smash! The students took turns trying to hit the watermelon while everyone cheered them on. After lots of laughter and excitement, we finally broke the watermelon open and enjoyed eating the sweet, juicy fruit together. It was the perfect way to celebrate two wonderful weeks of Summer School!
サマースクール最後の日は、日本の夏の定番スイカ割りを楽しみました。みんなで応援しながら順番にチャレンジし、大きな笑い声がたくさん聞こえてきました。最後はみんなで甘くておいしいスイカを食べ、楽しかった2週間を締めくくる素敵な思い出となりました。
