Hello again everyone! Unit Of Inquiry 2 is off and running. What’s your favorite season? While I think winter is easily the best, it turns out not many of my students agree! There were many arguments in favor of summer, spring, and fall as well.

We discussed what we like to do outside, and how the season and weather can affect those plans. We also tried closing our eyes and experiencing the weather with our ears, and imagining ourselves in different kinds of weather. This led to the art exhibit currently sitting outside our room:

Recently we also welcomed our preschool juniors to the school, to show them what their big brothers, big sisters, and future friends do in elementary school. We want them to be excited to join us here in Gojo.

First, we kicked things off by exploring the school grounds with a challenging scavenger hunt. Nobody could find the last item on the list, a red mushroom. We’re suspicious that Mario might have been hiding nearby….

みなさん、こんにちは！

Unit of Inquiry 2が元気にスタートしました！

みなさんの好きな季節は何ですか？私は冬が一番だと思っているのですが、どうやら子どもたちの多くはそうではないようです！夏、春、秋にもたくさんの支持が集まり、それぞれの季節の良さについて楽しく話し合いました。

まずは、外でどんなことをするのが好きかについて話し合い、その計画が季節や天気によってどのように変わるのかを考えました。また、目を閉じて耳で天気を感じたり、さまざまな天気の中にいる自分を想像したりする活動にも挑戦しました。その活動から生まれた作品が、現在教室の外に展示されているアート作品です。

最近は、プレスクールのジュニアクラスのお友達も学校に遊びに来てくれました。小学校のお兄さん・お姉さんや、これから出会う未来のお友達がどんなことをしているのかを見てもらい、五条での学校生活を楽しみにしてもらいたいと思っています。

まず最初に、学校の敷地内を探検しながらスカベンジャーハントに挑戦しました。ところが、リストの最後のアイテムだった「赤いキノコ」だけは誰も見つけることができませんでした。もしかしたら、近くにマリオが隠れていたのかもしれませんね……。

その後は教室に移動し、みんなでお客様を迎える準備をしました。

そして、一緒にABCダンスを楽しみました！ちょうどアルファベットの「P」を踊っているところは大盛り上がりでした。

今回もあっという間の楽しい2週間でした。そして、これからの2週間もとても楽しみです。次回は、私たちがどのように天気についてさらに深く探究しているのかをご紹介したいと思います。
