交通安全スキルの練習― ミルキーウェイ ―6月8日〜12日
こんにちは。
今週のミルキーウェイ・クラスは、とても忙しく、わくわくする、そして学びの多い一週間となりました。
毎朝、子どもたちが登校すると、まず最初に「今日のクラスリーダーは誰かな？」と確認する姿が見られます。最近では、クラスリーダーが自分から先生のところへ行き、「カレンダーを更新してもいいですか？」と進んで声をかけるようになりました。年度当初は、先生がこの役割を思い出させていましたが、今では子どもたち自身が覚え、自主的に行動しています。ミルキーウェイのみなさん、素晴らしいですね！
これは、自分の役割に責任を持ち、学びに主体的に取り組む姿勢を示す、とても良い成長の例です。クラスリーダーはまた、先生の指示に従ってお片付けの時間を知らせたり、みんなの前に自信をもって立ち、朝のサークルタイムで挨拶や進行役も務めています。
朝のサークルタイムでは、カレンダーやクラスの時間割、サイトワードをみんなで確認しながら、子どもたちは自信をもって自分の考えを伝える力を育んでいます。日々のこうした積み重ねが、子どもたちの大きな成長につながっています。
来週も、子どもたちのさらなる成長が楽しみですね。

What a busy, exciting, and meaningful week it has been in the Milky Way classroom!
Each morning, as soon as the students arrive at school, one of the first things they do is check who the class leader is for the day. It has been wonderful to see the class leader take the initiative to approach the teacher and ask if they may update the calendar. At the beginning of the year, teachers would remind students to complete this responsibility, but now the students remember and ask on their own. Well done, Milky Way! This is a wonderful example of the Learner Profile attribute of being Principled, as students take responsibility for their duties and demonstrate ownership of their learning. The class leader also announces clean-up time according to the teacher’s instructions and confidently stands in front of the class to greet everyone and lead the Morning Circle. Together, they review the calendar, class timetable, and sight words, helping our students develop as confident Communicators.
探究の時間（Unit of Inquiry）の様子
探究の時間では、クラスでの話し合いや楽しい分類ゲームを通して、土地・水・空気の汚染について復習しました。子どもたちは協力しながら、さまざまな汚染の例を見分け、「なぜその分類になるのか」を自分の言葉で説明しました。また、地球を守るために私たちにできることについても意見を出し合いました。ユニットを通して身につけた知識をもとに、問題点だけでなく解決策についても自信をもって説明する姿が見られ、実生活と結び付けて理解を深めていることが伝わってきました。
ゲストリーディングとポスター制作
今週は、五常小学校よりデイビッド先生をお迎えしました。子どもたちは『I Can Save the Earth』の読み聞かせに、最後まで集中して耳を傾けていました。物語に刺激を受けた後、グループで協力しながら「学校として地球を守るためにできること」をテーマにポスター制作に取り組みました。
活動中は、アイデアを出し合ったり、役割分担をしたり、「何を描くか」「どう伝えるか」を相談しながら進める姿が印象的でした。完成したポスターには、
「水を大切にしよう、一滴一滴が大切」
「今日リサイクル、地球を守ろう」
「きれいな空気、健康な地球」
「教室をきれいにすることが地球を助ける」
など、心のこもったメッセージが込められていました。
この活動を通して、子どもたちは考える力や伝える力を発揮し、協力して力強いメッセージを形にすることができました。
In our Unit of Inquiry, students reviewed land, water, and air pollution through class discussions and an exciting sorting game. Students worked together to identify different examples of pollution and explain why they belonged in each category. They also discussed possible solutions to help care for the Earth. We were impressed by how much knowledge they have gained throughout the unit. Students confidently explained both the problems and solutions related to pollution, demonstrating the Learner Profile attribute of being Knowledgeable as they applied their understanding to real-world situations.
We were delighted to welcome Mr. David from Gojo Elementary to our classroom this week. Students listened attentively as he read the story I Can Save the Earth. Inspired by Max’s journey, students worked collaboratively in groups to create posters showing how we can care for the Earth as a school community. It was wonderful to observe students discussing ideas, sharing responsibilities, and making decisions together about what to draw and how to communicate their message. Their posters included meaningful messages such as “Save Water, Every Drop Counts,” “Recycle Today, Protect Our Earth,” “Clean Air, Healthy Earth,” and “Clean Classroom, Helps Our Earth.” Through this activity, students demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being Thinkers and Communicators as they worked together to create powerful messages for others.
父の日の制作活動
子どもたちは、父の日のクラフト制作も楽しみました。カードに丁寧に飾り付けをし、心のこもったメッセージを書き、さらに折り紙で素敵な作品を作ってカードに添えました。一つひとつの作品に「喜んでもらいたい」という思いが込められており、時間をかけて大切に仕上げる姿がとても印象的でした。
この活動を通して、子どもたちはお父さんへの愛情や感謝の気持ちを形にし、相手を思いやる優しい心を発揮していました。心温まる、素敵な父の日のプレゼントが完成しました。
Students also enjoyed creating their Father’s Day crafts. They carefully decorated their cards, wrote sweet messages, and proudly made beautiful origami paper creations to attach to them. It was heartwarming to see the thought and effort they put into making their gifts extra special. Throughout this activity, students showed the Learner Profile attribute of being Caring, as they thoughtfully created something special to express their love and appreciation for their fathers.
きゅうりの日記の更新
今週のもう一つの楽しい活動は、「きゅうりの日記」の更新でした。ガーデンを訪れた際、子どもたちは「葉っぱが前より大きくなっていること」や、「花の後ろに小さなきゅうりの実ができ始めていること」に気付きました。
クラスリーダーは誇らしげにきゅうりの苗に水やりを行い、他の子どもたちはその様子をよく観察していました。その後、見つけた変化を絵や文章でダイアリーに記録しました。
この活動を通して、子どもたちは植物の成長を継続的に観察し、記録することで、探究心をもって学ぶ姿勢を育んでいます。日々の小さな変化に気付き、学びを深めていく子どもたちの姿がとても素敵でした。
Another exciting part of our week was updating our Cucumber Diary. During our garden visit, students noticed that the cucumber leaves had grown bigger and that a tiny cucumber fruit was beginning to form behind the flower. The class leader proudly watered the cucumber plant while the rest of the class carefully observed the changes. Students then recorded their observations through drawings and writing in their diaries. This activity encouraged students to be Inquirers, as they observed and documented the growth of the cucumber plant over time.

今週のジムレッスンでは、子どもたちは元気いっぱいに体を動かしました。さまざまな運動やゲームに取り組みながら、インストラクターの指示をよく聞いて活動することができました。
特に印象的だったのは、最後まで集中力を保ち、ルールや指示をしっかり守って行動していたことです。体を動かす活動の中でも、自分をコントロールし、周りへの配慮や責任ある行動を意識する姿が見られました。
このレッスンを通して、子どもたちは規律を守り、相手を尊重しながら活動する大切さを学びました。楽しく体を動かしながら、心も大きく成長している様子が感じられました。
Students were full of energy during their gym lesson this week. They moved their bodies through various activities and games while listening carefully to the instructor’s directions. We were especially impressed by how well students followed instructions and stayed focused throughout the lesson. They demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being Principled by showing self-discipline, respect, and responsibility during physical activities.
ありがとうポスターの制作
先週の訪問で、温かく迎えてくれ、一緒に遊んでくれた五常小学校の1年生・2年生のみなさんへ感謝の気持ちを伝えるため、クラス全員で「ありがとうポスター」を作りました。
ポスターには、「ありがとう」の気持ちがこもったメッセージと、カラフルで楽しい絵がたくさん描かれました。一人ひとりが相手のことを思い浮かべながら、心を込めて取り組んでいる様子が印象的でした。
この活動を通して、子どもたちは感謝の気持ちや思いやりを言葉や形で表現し、相手を大切にする心を育みました。温かい気持ちがあふれる、素敵なポスターが完成しました。
Our class also worked together to create a special thank-you poster for the Grade 1 and Grade 2 students from Gojo Elementary School who warmly welcomed us and played with us during our visit last week. The poster was filled with heartfelt messages of gratitude and decorated with colorful drawings. Through this meaningful activity, students demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being Caring as they expressed appreciation and kindness toward others.
交通安全教室の様子
子どもたちは、交通安全教室にも参加しました。講話では、「コウちゃん」というパペットを使いながら、子どもたちにも分かりやすく、楽しい形で大切な交通安全のルールを教えていただきました。子どもたちは最後まで集中して話を聞き、道路の安全な渡り方や、周囲の交通に注意すること、信号や標識を守ることについて学びました。
講話の後は、実際に校庭で一人ずつ練習を行い、学んだことを実践する機会がありました。話を聞くだけでなく、実際の場面を想定して行動することで、理解がより深まっている様子が見られました。
この活動を通して、子どもたちは安全ルールをしっかり守り、自分の身を守るために責任ある行動をとることの大切さを学びました。交通安全への意識が高まった、とても有意義な時間となりました。
Students also participated in a Traffic Safety Education program. During the lecture, students listened attentively as the presenters used puppet named Ko-chan to teach important road safety rules in an engaging and child-friendly way. They learned how to cross roads safely, watch for traffic, and follow safety signals. After the presentation, students had the opportunity to practice these skills one by one in the schoolyard. It was wonderful to see them applying what they had learned. Students demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being Principled as they followed the safety rules carefully and understood the importance of making responsible choices to keep themselves safe.
リーディング・フォニックス・Show and Tell の様子
リーディングでは、引き続き『Can You See?』に取り組みました。子どもたちの読む力が大きく伸びていることを、私たちもとても嬉しく感じています。以前よりも自信をもって読めるようになり、先生やお友だちの前で進んで音読したいという姿が多く見られるようになりました。読む力を使って考えや情報を伝えようとする姿から、子どもたちの成長が感じられます。
フォニックスでは、長い i の音と短い i の音の違いについて、活動や話し合いを通して学びました。その後、切って貼るワークに取り組み、先生と一緒に音読練習も行いました。
また、Show and Tell では、お家から大切な物を持ってきて紹介する子どもたちが増えています。お友だちの発表を見ることで刺激を受け、「やってみたい」という気持ちが広がっている様子がとても印象的です。人前で話す経験を重ねることで、子どもたちは少しずつ自信をつけています。
In reading, students continued working on the book Can You See? We are delighted to see how much their reading skills have improved. Many students are now reading with increased confidence and are eager to read aloud to their teachers and classmates. Through this progress, students demonstrated the Learner Profile attribute of being Communicators as they used their growing reading skills to share ideas and information with others.
In phonics, students learned to distinguish between long i and short i sounds through engaging activities and discussions. They then completed a cut-and-paste activity and practiced reading with the teacher.
Many students have also been bringing special items from home for Show and Tell. It has been wonderful to see how inspired they are by one another. Watching their classmates present has encouraged more students to participate, helping them build confidence when speaking in front of others.
スイミング・外遊び・今後のお知らせ
子どもたちはスイミングレッスンを楽しみながら、水に少しずつ慣れ、基本的な泳ぐスキルを身につけています。それぞれのペースで取り組み、自信を積み重ねている様子が見られました。
また、外遊びは毎日の中で楽しみにしている時間の一つで、体を動かしたり、お友だちとの関わりを深めたり、さまざまなことを発見する機会となっています。
日常生活の中で、子どもたちが自然に英語を使ってコミュニケーションを取ろうとする姿も増えてきました。少しずつ自信をもって伝えようとする姿から、確かな成長が感じられます。
今週も、学びや協力、挑戦がたくさん見られた一週間となりました。ミルキーウェイ・クラスの子どもたちの頑張りを、私たちはとても嬉しく思っています。
来週は、6月生まれのお誕生日会、クラス写真撮影、エコネコルへの園外活動、歯科検診、公園での地震避難訓練などが予定されています。次回のブログもぜひご覧ください。

Students also enjoyed their swimming lesson, where they continued building water confidence and developing important swimming skills.
Outside play continued to be a favorite part of the day, providing opportunities for movement, friendship, and exploration.
We are especially pleased to see students naturally choosing to communicate in English throughout the day. Their confidence as Communicators continues to grow, and we are incredibly proud of their progress.
