Treats no Tricks! This week, our creative Shooting Star students have been hard at work adding to their Halloween accessories. Using their fine motor and crafting skills, they folded and assembled special origami baskets. But they didn’t stop there, each student brought their basket to life with frightfully fun decorations! We have everything from green zombies to vampires, witches and beyond. Every basket turned out unique and full of character. Shooting Stars are officially ready to collect trick-or-treat goodies in true style! Creating these baskets naturally led into wonderful classroom discussions about different holidays, traditions, and celebrations. The students have been bubbling over with excitement, eagerly sharing which costumes they plan to wear with their custom bags.
「トリック・オア・トリート」の準備は万端！今週、「シューティング・スター」クラスの創造力豊かな子どもたちは、ハロウィーンのアイテム作りに一生懸命取り組みました。手先を器用に動かし、折り紙を折って組み立て、特別なバスケットを完成させたのです。それだけではありません。それぞれが工夫を凝らし、ちょっぴり怖くて楽しいデコレーションを施して、バスケットに命を吹き込みました！緑色のゾンビや吸血鬼、魔女など、個性あふれるユニークなバスケットがたくさん出来上がりました。これで、「シューティング・スター」のみんなは、最高にクールなスタイルで「トリック・オア・トリート」のお菓子を集めに出かけられます！このバスケット作りを通じて、世界各地の祝日や伝統、お祝いの行事について、クラスで素晴らしい話し合いが広がりました。子どもたちはワクワクが止まらない様子で、手作りのバスケットに合わせてどんな仮装をするか、楽しそうに語り合っていました。
Cherry Blossoms and Crafty Treats! As our students take a closer look at some of their favorite holidays and celebrations around the world, comparing traditions, festive dress and decorations. This week, the Shooting Stars explored Hanami, and discovered how the beautiful Japanese cherry blossom festival is celebrated both in Japan and around the world. Delicious food is Shooting Star’s favorite part! To kick off the lesson, the class shared what they know about Hanami, and the seasonal treats that they like, and don’t like! After learning about popular festival treats like dango, sweet sakura mochi, and tamagoyaki, Shooting Stars put their creativity to work, using colorful flower paper to make their very own adorable Hanami feast for an ongoing project! 桜と楽しいお祭り気分！今週は、世界中の祝日やお祝いの行事に目を向け、それぞれの伝統や衣装、飾り付けについて学びました。今回は「お花見」をテーマに、日本が誇る美しい桜の祭りが、日本だけでなく世界中でどのように親しまれているのかを探究しました。「シューティング・スター」のみんなにとって、一番の楽しみはやっぱり美味しい食べ物！まずは、お花見について知っていることを話し合ったり、好きな季節の食べ物や苦手な食べ物について教え合ったりしました。団子や桜餅、卵焼きといったお花見の定番メニューについて学んだ後は、カラフルな花紙を使って、自分だけの可愛らしい「お花見のごちそう」作りに挑戦しました。このプロジェクトは現在も進行中です！ぜひ、お花見の写真などがあれば、「ショー・アンド・テル」で見せてくださいね。
Despite the spots of rain this week, Shooting Star had a lot of long playtime this week and enjoyed lots of soccer, swinging and nature hunting in the school yard and the park! And, everyone safely reflected on Earthquake readiness and evacuated quickly to Sanyo Jr. High School!
今週は時折雨が降ることもありましたが、「シューティング・スター」のみんなは校庭や公園で、サッカーをしたり、ブランコに乗ったり、自然観察をしたりと、たっぷりと外遊びを楽しむことができました！また、地震への備えについても学び、山陽中学校まで素早く避難する訓練も無事に行うことができました。
Winter Show is also approaching quickly, and Shooting Star got the opportunity to learn by example. An inspirational community theater group “Cocoro No Furusato” came to share some comedy and a cute, funny puppet show!
冬の発表会も近づいてきました。今回は、地域で活動する劇団「心のふるさと」の皆さんが来てくださり、楽しいコメディや、可愛くて面白い人形劇を披露してくれました！子どもたちにとって、とても刺激的で学びの多い体験となりました。学校全体で誕生日をお祝いするパーティーも開かれ、おやつには美味しいケーキが振る舞われました！
Everyone also celebrated a few birthdays with a school-wide Birthday Party and a sweet cake for snack!
