This week in the Savanna class has been both fun and meaningful as we continued exploring our line of inquiry on the different types of families. Through a variety of engaging activities, the students had opportunities to share, reflect, and learn more about themselves and others.
One of our main highlights this week was the presentation of the “Who lives in your house?” craft. The students shared about their families and proudly presented their work to the class. They practiced saying, “This is my family. I live with my…”. During our discussion, they noticed that some families may have the same number of members but different family compositions. This activity encouraged the students to become communicators as they expressed their ideas, and open-minded as they recognized and respected the differences in each other’s families. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow while practicing their speaking skills.
今週のSavannaクラスは、さまざまな家族の形について探究を続ける中で、楽しく、そして学びの多い一週間となりました。さまざまな活動を通して、子どもたちは自分自身や自分の周りにいる人について共有し、振り返り、学ぶ機会を持つことができました。
今週は、「Who lives in your house?（だれがあなたのおうちに住んでいますか？）」について、自分たちで製作したクラフトを使って発表しました。子ども達は自分の家族は何人家族か、そして誰と一緒に住んでいるのかを誇らしげにみんなの前で発表しました。 “This is my family. I live with my…”（これは私の家族です。私は〜と一緒に住んでいます。）という表現の練習もしました。
発表が終わった後、数人のお友達の家族を見て比べ、同じところ、違うところについて話し合いました。子ども達は、「同じ人数だから同じ」、「同じ人数でも、赤ちゃんがいない。でもおばあちゃんがいるよ。」、「人数が違うから違う。」など、たくさんの事に気が付き、自分の考えを共有することできました。この活動を通して、子どもたちは自分の考えを伝えるコミュニケーターとして成長し、またお互いの家族の違いを認め尊重するオープンマインドな姿勢も育んでいました。発表を通して自信を深めながら、話す力を伸ばしていく姿を見ることができ、とても素晴らしかったです。
We also enjoyed a variety of activities throughout the week. On Monday, the students had a great time at the park, where they played, explored, and enjoyed the outdoors after practicing for a walk. On Tuesday, the class got creative by making koinobori (carp streamers), a traditional Japanese decoration that celebrates children’s growth and happiness. Their cutting skills are gradually improving, and they are learning how to use scissors properly.
また、今週はさまざまな活動も楽しみました。月曜日には、公園へ行って、歩く練習をした後、外遊びを満喫しました。子どもたちは遊具で遊んだり、草花を摘んだりしながら、自然の中で楽しい時間を過ごしました。
火曜日には、子どもの日に飾る「こいのぼり」の制作を行いました。「子どもの日」についてクイズをすると、たくさんの手が上がり、自分の知っている事を教えてくれました。こいのぼりは、子どもたちの健やかな成長と幸せを願うものです。子どもたちのはさみを使う力も少しずつ上達しており、正しい使い方を学びながら制作に取り組んでいます。
On Thursday, although it was a rainy day, the Savanna students stayed active indoors by playing games such as musical chairs and fruit basket. These activities helped them develop as balanced learners, as they enjoyed physical movement while practicing cooperation and self-management.
木曜日は雨の日でしたが、Savannaクラスの子どもたちは室内でミュージカルチェア（椅子取りゲーム）やフルーツバスケットなどのゲームをして元気いっぱいに過ごしました。これらの活動を通して、体を動かす楽しさを味わいながら、協力することや自分の行動をコントロールする力も育み、バランスのとれた学習者として成長する姿が見られました。
We also had a fire drill this week. At first, some students were unsure about whether the signal indicated an earthquake or a fire, but they were able to follow instructions and evacuate safely. This experience helped them become more reflective as they learned the importance of safety and listening carefully during emergencies.
Overall, it has been a productive and enjoyable week. The students are gradually becoming more confident in sharing their ideas, participating in activities, and understanding that there are different types of families. また、今週は火災を想定した避難訓練も行いました。最初は、合図が地震なのか火事なのか分からず戸惑う子どもたちもいましたが、先生の指示をしっかり聞き、安全に避難することができました。安全の大切さや緊急時にはよく話を聞くことの大切さを学び、振り返って考える力も育まれました。
今週も充実した楽しい一週間となりました。子どもたちは少しずつ、自分の考えを自信を持って伝えたり、さまざまな活動に積極的に参加したり、家族にはさまざまな形があることを理解したりできるようになっています。来週もまた一緒に楽しく学べることを楽しみにしています。ブログをお読みいただき、ありがとうございました。
