We have had another exciting week in the Canyon Class!

The children enjoyed a fun trip to the park, where they had many opportunities to develop both physically and socially. They practiced climbing, running, and balancing, while also building confidence as they explored new equipment. It was wonderful to see them engaging in imaginative play, taking turns and encouraging one another. These shared outdoor experiences are helping strengthen friendships and cooperation within the class.

キャニオンクラスでは、今週も楽しい出来事がたくさんありました！

公園へのお出かけでは、子どもたちは体をたくさん動かしながら、心も大きく成長する様子が見られました。登ったり、走ったり、バランスをとったりと、さまざまな動きに挑戦しながら、新しい遊具にも自信をもって取り組んでいました。

また、ごっこ遊びを楽しんだり、「順番だよ」と声をかけ合ったり、お友だちを応援する姿もたくさん見られ、とても微笑ましかったです。こうした戸外での経験を通して、クラスのお友だちとの関わりや協力する力も、少しずつ育ってきています。

In their music lesson, the children explored different rhythms and movements through songs and actions. They listened carefully, followed along with gestures, and expressed themselves through their bodies and voices. Music time has been a joyful way for the children to build confidence, develop listening skills, and enjoy participating as a group.

音楽のレッスンでは、歌や動きを通してさまざまなリズムに触れて楽しみました。

子どもたちはよく耳を傾けながら、ジェスチャーをまねしたり、体や声を使って自分なりに表現したりする姿が見られました。音楽の時間は、子どもたちにとって楽しく参加しながら、自信をつけたり、聞く力を育てたりする大切な時間になっています。また、みんなで一緒に活動する喜びも感じられているようです。

This week, the children created their own Koinobori (carp streamers), learning about this special seasonal tradition. They explored a variety of colors, patterns, and materials as they carefully decorated their carp. This activity supported their fine motor development, creativity, and self-expression. Each Koinobori was unique, and the children showed great pride in their creations as they shared them with their friends.

今週は、日本の季節の行事に親しみながら、こいのぼり制作を行いました。

子どもたちは、さまざまな色や模様、素材に触れながら、自分だけのこいのぼりを丁寧に作り上げていきました。この活動を通して、指先の動きを使う力（巧緻性）や創造力、そして自分らしく表現する力を育んでいます。

一つひとつ個性あふれる素敵なこいのぼりが完成し、「見て！」と嬉しそうにお友だちに見せ合う姿も見られ、とても微笑ましかったです。

We also had our first fire drill, which was an important learning experience. The children practiced listening carefully to instructions, lining up, and moving together safely. They responded calmly and showed a growing understanding of safety routines, which is a wonderful step in building their awareness and responsibility.

今週は、初めての避難訓練も行いました。子どもたちにとって大切な学びの機会となりました。

先生の話をよく聞き、順番に並んで、みんなで安全に移動する練習をしました。子どもたちは落ち着いて行動することができ、安全に関するルールも少しずつ理解してきている様子が見られました。

このような経験を通して、安全への意識や自分で行動する力が育ってきていることを、とても嬉しく感じています。

After reading the book in small parts at the start of the week, the children explored the foods they like in more depth. They were encouraged to think, make choices, and communicate those choices in different ways. The children showed their preferences by raising their hands for foods shown to them, nodding in agreement, and most importantly using full sentences.

We are beginning to see strong student agency as the children confidently express their ideas, make choices, and participate in discussions. They are learning that their opinions matter and that they can communicate them in ways that others can understand. It was especially heartwarming to hear them say, “I like banana,” “I like grapes,” and “I like watermelon,” showing both language development and growing confidence. They also chose outlines of foods they preferred and coloured them as carefully as they could, taking the opportunity to further develop their fine motor skills.

週のはじめに絵本を少しずつ読み進めたあと、子どもたちは「好きな食べ物」についてさらに探究を深めました。

「考えること」「選ぶこと」、そして「選んだことを伝えること」を大切にしながら活動を行いました。見せられた食べ物に対して手を挙げたり、うなずいたり、そして何より「I like 〜」と文章で気持ちを伝えようとする姿が見られました。

子どもたちが自分の考えを自信をもって表現し、選択し、話し合いに参加する姿から、主体性（Student Agency）が育ってきていることを感じています。「自分の意見は大切なんだ」「相手に伝えることができるんだ」という気づきにつながっているようです。

「I like banana」「I like grapes」「I like watermelon」といった声もたくさん聞かれ、言葉の成長とともに自信もぐんぐん育っている様子に、私たちもとても嬉しく感じました。

また、自分の好きな食べ物の形を選び、丁寧に色を塗る活動にも取り組みました。楽しみながら指先の力（巧緻性）も育んでいます。
