Another great and exciting week in Waterfall!
On Monday and Friday we had a full rehearsal of our Sports Festival with the rest of Shimauchi Campus. It was great for students to see the performances of the other classes, and cheer each other on as we practiced.
ウォーターフォールクラスの、楽しくてワクワクする一週間！月曜日と金曜日には、島内キャンパスの他のクラスのお友だちと一緒に、スポーツフェスティバルの通し練習を行いました。他のクラスのパフォーマンスを見ることができたのも、子どもたちにとって素敵な経験となり刺激にもなりました。練習をしながら、お互いに声援を送り合い、みんなで一緒にリハーサルを盛り上げていきました！
We continued our inquiry into animals, their habitats and needs, and how they are connected with people. After our wonderful experience last week with the dairy farmers, we began to talk more about what products we get from animals. We talked about dairy products like milk and butter, and also wool products we get from sheep. Finally we looked deeper into where eggs come from, and what a chicken farm might look like.
動物についての探究を引き続き行い、動物たちがどのような場所で暮らし、何を必要としているのか、そして人々とどのようにつながっているのかについて学びました。先週、酪農家の方々との素晴らしい体験をしたことをきっかけに、動物から私たちはどのようなものを得ているのかについて、さらに話を深めました。牛乳やバターなどの乳製品について話したり、羊からとれる羊毛を使った製品についても考えたりしました。最後には、卵はどこからやってくるのか、そして養鶏場はどのような場所なのかについて、さらに詳しく探究しました。
After our interesting discussion, we took our prior knowledge and actually engaged in some practical activities: students became little chefs! We made our own scrambled eggs! Students carefully mixed and cooked the eggs, while talking about where eggs come from and how we get them. And they were super yummy! Not only did this give students a really chance to think about how our lives are connected to animals, but also it allows them to physically experience where our food actually comes from. What a great time!
興味深い話し合いをした後は、これまでの知識を活かしながら、実際に体験する活動にも取り組みました。子どもたちは、かわいい小さなシェフに大変身！みんなでスクランブルエッグ作りに挑戦しました！卵を丁寧に混ぜて調理しながら、「卵はどこから来るの？」「私たちはどうやって卵を手に入れているの？」と、卵について話をしました。そして、できあがったスクランブルエッグは、とってもおいしかったです！この活動を通して、私たちの暮らしが動物とどのようにつながっているのかを考えるだけでなく、普段食べているものが実際にどこからやってくるのかを、五感を使って体験することができました。
The weather was a little drier this week, so we got more opportunities to play outside. We had fun creating, and playing with mud. We also looked around our play area to find items connected to animals. We found a bird feather, and an insect wing! It sparked a discussion about different kinds of birds, their colours, and what bird we thought it might have come from.
今週は少し雨が少なく、外で遊ぶ機会が増えました！泥を使っていろいろなものを作ったり、泥遊びを楽しんだりしました。また、園庭を探検しながら、動物に関係するものがないか探してみました。すると、鳥の羽と昆虫の羽を発見！そこから、いろいろな種類の鳥について話したり、「どんな色の鳥がいるかな？」と考えたり、「この羽はどの鳥のものだと思う？」と想像したりしながら、みんなで楽しく話を広げていきました。
Next week is a big week, we have our Sports Festival! We are so excited to show how we have grown in Waterfall class, and our lovely dancing and running skills. We look forward to seeing you then!
