It was another exciting week in Savanna! Our students enjoyed a wonderful variety of learning experiences and made the most of the warm summer days. From exploring small creatures around our schoolyard and listening to the sounds of cicadas to enjoying energetic outdoor pool play, making pizzas with vegetables from our garden, and practicing the Matsumoto Bon Bon dance with our Rainforest friends, the students continued to learn, create, explore, and have fun together! 🌏✨
In our music lesson, we learned two new songs. One of the songs was about cicadas, which connected perfectly to our current UOI about small creatures. The students were especially interested when we listened to the sounds of different cicadas, including the Abura-zemi, Minmin-zemi, and Higurashi. They were so fascinated that they asked us to sing the song again! 🎶🪰
今週もSavannaクラスでは、ワクワクするような学びがたくさんありました！子どもたちはさまざまな活動を楽しみながら、夏ならではの毎日を元気いっぱい過ごしました。園庭で小さな生き物を探したり、セミの鳴き声に耳を傾けたり、プール遊びで思いきり体を動かいたり、畑で育てた野菜を使ってピザ作りをしたり、Rainforestクラスのお友達と一緒に松本ぼんぼんの練習をしたりと、学び・創造・探究・遊びを通して充実した一週間となりました！🌏✨
ミュージックレッスンでは、新しい歌を2曲学びました。そのうちの1曲は「セミ」の歌で、Unit２で探究している「小さな生き物」の学習ともぴったりつながる内容でした。子どもたちは、アブラゼミ、ミンミンゼミ、ヒグラシなど、さまざまな種類のセミの鳴き声を聞き比べ、とても興味を示していました。「もう一回歌いたい！」という声も上がり、何度も歌を楽しむ姿が見られました。🎶🪰
We continued exploring the small creatures around us during UOI. We talked about the creatures we had found in the schoolyard and discussed where they lived and what they were doing. The students shared their observations and continued developing their curiosity about the living things in the world around them. Here are some of their observations:
“I found a bee on the ground. It was not moving.”
“I found a spider in a spider web. It was walking.”
“I found an earthworm on the ground. It was sleeping.” 🌿🐛🕷️
今週もUOI（探究の時間）では、身の回りにいる小さな生き物についての探究を続けました。園庭で見つけた生き物について振り返り、「どこにいたのか」「何をしていたのか」をみんなで話し合いました。子どもたちは自分の発見を嬉しそうに共有しながら、身近な生き物への興味や好奇心をさらに深めていました。
子どもたちからは、こんな発見がありました。
- 「地面でハチを見つけたよ。動いていなかった。」
- 「クモの巣にクモがいたよ。歩いていたよ。」
- 「地面でミミズを見つけたよ。寝ていたよ。」 🌿🐛🕷️
We also enjoyed a group activity about small-creature habitats. Each group was given a picture of a habitat where small creatures might live, along with pictures of different small creatures. The students worked together to think, discuss, and decide which creatures might live in the grass, near water, under logs, under leaves, and in holes and cracks. It was wonderful to see them share their ideas and listen to one another as they explored where small creatures might live. Next week, we will continue our exploration by learning more about small-creature habitats and the different environments they call home. 🐛🌿💧🪵🍂
また、小さな生き物のすみかについてのグループ活動も行いました。各グループに、小さな生き物が住んでいそうな場所の絵と、さまざまな小さな生き物の絵を配り、「草むら」「水辺」「丸太の下」「落ち葉の下」「穴やすき間」など、それぞれの生き物がどこに住んでいるのかを話し合いながら考えました。
子どもたちは友達と意見を出し合い、お互いの考えに耳を傾けながら協力して活動を進める姿が見られました。小さな生き物がどのような環境で暮らしているのかを楽しみながら学ぶことができました。
来週も、小さな生き物のすみかや、それぞれが暮らすさまざまな環境について、さらに探究を深めていく予定です。🐛🌿💧🪵🍂
The warm summer weather also gave us the perfect opportunity to enjoy lots of fun in the outdoor pool! The students made a whirlpool together and played with great energy. They also enjoyed playing with water in many different ways and swimming through hoops like crocodiles. Their creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm made pool time especially exciting! 🐊💦
今週は夏真っ盛り。屋外プールでも思いきり楽しみました！子どもたちはみんなで力を合わせてプールの中を歩き回り、「うず」を作ったり、水をかけ合ったりしながら元気いっぱい遊びました。また、ワニになりきってフープをくぐり抜ける遊びにも挑戦し、さまざまな方法で水遊びを満喫しました。
子どもたちの豊かな想像力や創造力、そして「やってみたい！」という意欲があふれ、プール遊びは笑顔いっぱいの楽しい時間となりました！🐊💦
We also enjoyed a special eggplant pizza party! The students used the eggplants and bell peppers they had planted and grown in our garden. Instead of using bread as the base, we used slices of eggplant and added tuna, corn, and cheese on top. They couldn’t resist eating the cheese that stuck to the cupcake liners! It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to enjoy the vegetables they had grown themselves and experience the connection between gardening, cooking, and eating. 🍆🫑🍕🌱
また、ナスピザパーティーも楽しみました！子どもたちは、自分たちで畑に植えて育てたナスとピーマンを使ってピザ作りに挑戦しました。パンの代わりにナスを土台にし、その上にツナ、コーン、チーズをのせて焼きました。
焼き上がった後は、カップにくっついたチーズまで「おいしい！」と言いながら夢中で食べる姿が見られました。自分たちで育てた野菜を味わうことで、「育てること」「料理すること」「食べること」のつながりを楽しく体験することができた、素敵な食育の時間となりました。🍆🫑🍕🌱
The Matsumoto Bon Bon Festival is approaching, so we have started practicing the dance in class. Three students from the Rainforest Class joined us to show us the dance steps, and we enjoyed dancing together. Thank you, Rainforest friends! 松本ぼんぼんのお祭りが近づいてきました。クラスでも踊りの練習を始めました。今回は、Rainforestクラスのお友達3名が先生役として来てくれ、踊り方を教えてくれました。みんなで一緒に楽しく踊りながら、少しずつ振り付けを覚えることができました。

Through music, UOI, outdoor play, gardening, and hands-on experiences, our students continue to explore and discover the world around them. Their curiosity and excitement remind us that learning can happen everywhere—even while listening to cicadas, swimming in the pool, enjoying a pizza made with vegetables from our own garden, and dancing with our friends! 🌏✨
音楽やUOI（探究の時間）、戸外遊び、園芸活動、そしてさまざまな体験活動を通して、子どもたちは身の回りの世界を楽しみながら探究し、新しい発見を続けています。セミの鳴き声に耳を澄ませたり、プールで元気いっぱい遊んだり、自分たちで育てた野菜を使ったピザを味わったり、お友達と一緒に踊ったりと、日々のあらゆる経験が学びにつながっています。
子どもたちの尽きることのない好奇心と「やってみたい！」という気持ちは、私たちに「学びは教室の中だけでなく、毎日の生活のあらゆる場面で生まれるもの」だということを改めて教えてくれます。これからも子どもたちの探究心を大切にしながら、さまざまな経験を通して学びを深めていきたいと思います。🌏✨
