This week, our young poets stepped outside the classroom and into nature to find inspiration for their poem writing. With notebooks in hand and curious minds ready to explore, the students used their senses to observe the world around them.

今週、子どもたちは若い詩人となって教室を飛び出し、詩を書くためのインスピレーションを求めて自然の中へ出かけました。ノートを手にし、探究心いっぱいの子どもたちは、自分たちの五感を使って周りの世界を観察しました。

As they walked outside, the children listened carefully to the chirping birds, felt the cool breeze on their skin, and watched the clouds drift across the sky. They noticed the gentle rustling of leaves, the warmth of the sun, and even the smell of the fresh air after the wind passed by. These real-life experiences helped them create vivid and meaningful poems.

外を歩きながら、子どもたちは鳥のさえずりに耳を澄ませ、肌に感じる涼しい風を味わい、空をゆっくり流れる雲を見つめました。また、葉っぱがやさしく揺れる音や太陽の暖かさ、風が通り過ぎた後の新鮮な空気の香りにも気づいていました。こうした実際の体験が、子どもたちの色鮮やかで心に残る詩作りにつながりました。

During our writing lessons, the students focused on using figures of speech, especially similes, to make their poems more descriptive and imaginative. They compared nature to familiar objects and feelings, writing lines such as “The clouds are like sweet cotton candy. ” They also practiced using strong descriptive words to paint clear pictures in the reader’s mind.

作文の授業では、子どもたちは詩をより表現豊かで想像力あふれるものにするために、特に直喩（シミリー）などの比喩表現を使うことに取り組みました。「雲は甘いわたあめのようです。」というように、自然を身近な物や気持ちにたとえながら表現しました。また、読む人の心に情景がはっきりと思い浮かぶように、描写的な言葉を使う練習もしました。

The outdoor experience encouraged the students to slow down, observe carefully, and connect emotionally with nature. It was wonderful to see how the sights, sounds, and feelings of the weather inspired their creativity and confidence as writers.

屋外での体験を通して、子どもたちは立ち止まり、じっくり観察し、自然と心を通わせることができました。天気の景色や音、そして感じたことが、子どもたちの創造力や書き手としての自信につながっている様子を見ることができ、とても素晴らしかったです。

Even during recess, the learning continued. The students and one of the teachers used our cloud type identifier to observe the sky and predict what the weather would be like. They eagerly discussed the different cloud formations they saw and shared their predictions with excitement. This hands-on experience helped them make real-world connections between science, observation, and language.

休み時間中も、子どもたちの学びは続いていました。子どもたちは先生の一人と一緒に雲の種類を調べるツールを使い、空を観察しながら天気を予想しました。見つけたさまざまな雲の形について楽しそうに話し合い、自分たちの予想をわくわくしながら共有していました。この体験を通して、子どもたちは科学・観察・言葉のつながりを実際の世界の中で学ぶことができました。

We are very proud of our young writers for expressing their ideas so beautifully. Their work reminds us that inspiration can be found all around us when we take the time to look, listen, and feel.
