This week, we began Unit 2 under the transdisciplinary theme “Sharing the Planet.” To spark the children’s curiosity, we prepared a fun provocation activity before they arrived in the classroom.
We placed different animal footprints on the classroom floor and attached matching footprints to the feet of several stuffed animals, which were hidden around the room. When the students entered, they immediately noticed the mysterious footprints. We asked them, “Who came into our classroom?” and “Where do you think they went?” This encouraged the children to observe carefully, make predictions, and begin their investigation.
The students eagerly followed the footprints around the classroom until they discovered the hidden animals. They carefully matched the footprints on the floor with those on the stuffed animals and excitedly identified each animal by name.
Through this engaging provocation, the children demonstrated their ability to recognize and distinguish different animals while developing their observation, thinking, and communication skills. Their enthusiasm and curiosity made for a wonderful start to our new Unit of Inquiry, and we look forward to discovering more about how people and animals share our planet together.
今週、私たちは「地球を分かち合う（Sharing the Planet）」という学際的なテーマのもと、ユニット2を開始しました。子供たちの好奇心を刺激するため、彼らが教室に到着する前に、興味をそそるような「プロボケーション（探究への導入となる仕掛け）」を用意しました。
教室の床にさまざまな動物の足跡を配置し、それに対応する足裏の形を、室内のあちこちに隠したいくつかの動物のぬいぐるみの足にも貼り付けておきました。教室に入った生徒たちは、すぐにその不思議な足跡に気づきました。「誰が教室に入ってきたのかな？」「どこへ行ったと思う？」と問いかけると、子供たちは熱心に観察し、予想を立て、探究活動を始めました。
生徒たちは足跡をたどって教室中を動き回り、ついに隠された動物たちを見つけ出しました。床の足跡とぬいぐるみの足裏を慎重に照らし合わせ、興奮しながらそれぞれの動物の名前を当てていきました。
この魅力的な導入活動を通じて、子供たちはさまざまな動物を認識・識別する力を発揮すると同時に、観察力、思考力、そしてコミュニケーション能力を育むことができました。彼らの熱意と好奇心のおかげで、新しい探究ユニットは素晴らしいスタートを切ることができました。今後、人間と動物がいかにして地球を分かち合って生きているのかについて、さらに学びを深めていくことを楽しみにしています。
Pool session Has started （プール遊びがスタートしました）
Our outdoor pool sessions began this week, and the children were excited to splash into the water! With the hot summer weather, the pool was the perfect way for everyone to cool down while having lots of fun.
The students laughed, splashed, and enjoyed pretending to be different animals that live in the water. They waddled like ducks, swam like fish, glided like sharks, and crawled like crocodiles, using their imaginations as they played together.
The children also had a wonderful time using water toys to scoop and pour water over their own bodies and gently splash their friends. One of the biggest highlights was when the teacher sprayed them with the hose, filling the pool area with laughter and excited squeals of joy.
今週から屋外プールでの活動が始まり、子供たちは大喜びで水の中へと飛び込んでいきました！夏の暑い日差しの中、プールはみんなで楽しみながら涼むのに最高の場所となりました。
子供たちは笑い声を上げ、水を掛け合いながら、水辺の生き物になりきって遊びました。アヒルのようにヨチヨチ歩いたり、魚のように泳いだり、サメのように滑らかに動いたり、ワニのように這ったりと、想像力を膨らませながら一緒に楽しい時間を過ごしました。
また、水遊び用のおもちゃを使って水をすくって体にかけたり、友達に優しく水をかけたりして遊ぶ姿も見られました。特に盛り上がったのは、先生がホースで水をかけた瞬間です。プールエリアは、子供たちの笑い声と喜びの歓声でいっぱいに包まれました。

Identifying Numbers Through Active Learning （数字の認識）
Our students had a wonderful time learning number recognition through a fun and engaging group activity! The teacher held up a number card, and the children carefully looked at the number before forming a group with the correct number of classmates. For example, when the teacher showed the number 5, the children quickly worked together to make a group of five.
生徒たちは、楽しく魅力的なグループ活動を通じて、数字の認識を学びながら素晴らしい時間を過ごしました！先生が数字のカードを掲げると、子供たちはその数字をよく見て、正しい人数のグループを作りました。例えば、先生が「5」のカードを見せると、子供たちは素早く協力し合って5人のグループを作っていました。
This hands-on activity encouraged the children to practice number recognition while also developing their listening skills, teamwork, and communication. They listened carefully to the teacher’s instructions, understood what was expected, and confidently worked together to complete the task.
この体験型のアクティビティは、子供たちが数字の認識を練習すると同時に、聞く力、チームワーク、そしてコミュニケーション能力を養う機会となりました。子供たちは先生の指示を注意深く聞き、求められていることを理解した上で、自信を持って協力し合い、課題をやり遂げました。
Pool Activity Reminder
As the weather continues to get hotter each day, we have finished our mud play activities and will now spend more time enjoying our pool sessions whenever our schedule allows. This will help keep the children cool, comfortable, and happy during the hot weather
Kindly have your child bring their pool bag instead of their mud play set on pool activity days. Please make sure the pool bag includes all the necessary items for water play.

プール遊びに関するお知らせ
日ごとに気温が上がってきましたので、泥遊びの活動を終え今後はスケジュールの許す限りプール遊びの時間を増やしていきます。これにより、暑い日でも子供たちが涼しく、快適に、そして楽しく過ごせるようにしたいと考えています。
つきましては、今後は泥遊びセットの代えてプールバッグを持たせていただきますようお願いいたします。その際、水遊びに必要なものがすべて揃っているか、確認をお願いします。また、全ての持ち物には必ず記名をお願いします。
