As we get deeper into the whys and hows of weather and seasons, the students continue to show a creative spark and an inquisitive nature that shines through in the work that they are doing.
In an effort to become more familiar with the weather that they experience and its changes over time, students have begun keeping a weather journal.

Going forward, we can use this data in a number of ways. We can practice charting the temperatures and make a math activity out of it. We can create a database of what weather we saw when and look for patterns. But for now, we’re focusing on experiencing the weather and practicing writing our observations and feelings.
We’re also learning about the seasons, both what causes them and how they affect the world around us. For homework, students are given famous paintings of nature scenes and have to decide what season they believe is shown. They also share why they feel that way. This has led to some very interesting observations and shows an exciting depth of creativity in the students!

But we have barely scratched the surface! The students still have many questions, and they recently wrote them out and posted them to our Wonder Wall for us to ponder going forward.

And after all this hard work, the kids still are filled with creative impulses. Their favorite way to unwind seems to be working their way through a pile of blank paper. We have quite a few artists in the room!
